In the Middle of Nowhere

I had a great day today visiting Tiffany's third grade classroom at Groner Elementary School. It was a loooong haul out there from the city to 217 to Scholls Ferry Rd. Then as I cruised down Scholls Ferry, the suburbs suddenly turned into farmland, with fields of green sprawling as far as the eye could see and beautiful white washed historic farmhouses complete with adjacent big red barns. Once I was certain that I was in the middle of nowhere, quaint little Groner Elementary School appeared in the distance.

The day was full of activity, the highlight was definitely the student's awesome science projects which they had done at home and then presented in class. It was great to see Tiffany "in action" teaching, she was of course, wonderful. I was impressed by how sweet and well-behaved her students were. She has a variety of different special needs students in her class including three deaf students, one autistic student, and one student who is deaf and autistic. Both Tiffany and her students interacted with these students with kindness, compassion, and understanding. Watching how nice her students were to their peers was a breath of fresh air compared to my student teaching experience in 5th grade where the boys were always on each other over the most minor infractions.

In other news, I am in the thick of my job search right now, having been out of school for over two weeks. I am finishing up all of these annoying essay questions that each district requires and then I will be playing the waiting game. It has been really frustrating to think that after my applications are in so much of whether or not I have an actual job next year is out of my control. For someone who is the ultimate planner and likes to go from point A to point B with no uncertainties in-between, these next few months are definitely going to challenge me and teach me a much needed lesson in patience and trust in God's will. Your prayers in this area are much appreciated! (o:
